What the structure does

  • Waistband is 9 cm of soft knitted elastic across the whole circumference.
  • No button, no hook, no rigid interfacing anywhere.
  • Back rise raised, front rise shortened.
  • Flat-locked seams so nothing sits proud against the seat.

Where it stops working

  • The legs still have to be threaded on. This item does not open along its length.
  • An elasticated waist needs a grip that can stretch it. If gripping and pulling is the difficult part, the side-zip trousers may suit better.

    Pulls together on its own from about 8 mm apart. A finger and a thumb are enough.

    Holds under a coat or a lap belt. Separating it takes a deliberate pull.

Seated measurements — trousers and skirts

These are seated measurements. They are not the same as a standing size chart, so please measure rather than assume. If you are between two sizes, tell us and we will say which one we would send.

Seated waist
Sitting down, measure right round the body where the waistband will actually sit. This is usually larger than a standing waist.
Seated hip
Sitting down, measure round the widest part of the hips and the seat, keeping the tape level.
Seated inseam
Sitting with the knee bent, measure from the crease at the top of the inner thigh down to the ankle bone.
